Contractors who match the job criteria are contacted to find out if they are available to provide a quote for the project.

Interested contractors, then purchase the job lead. At that point, both contractor and homeowner are given access to the others profile information. The contractor will then make contact with the homeowner within a 48 hr period to arrange a meeting.

Once a contractor has be awarded the job and performs the work, the homeowner will return to the site to show a record of who was awarded the job and may also rate and review the contractors who expressed interest in the project. Once posted, these reviews and testimonials will be visible on the contractors profile for all future homeowners to view.

How does QuoteCity’s matching system work?

QuoteCity.com uses the homeowner job lead information and the contractors sign up criteria to match homeowners only with contractors who meet their needs. Like wise contractors will only have to view jobs that suit the category and budget of work they are interested in. Neither party has this luxury in the real world. The matching system is what makes QuoteCity such a valuable tool for home and business owners and contactors alike.

What is the set up process? Is there a charge?

Set up process is that you sign up on your own or over the phone
with us. Create your contractor profile by filling out all the required
information, add your logo, and any portfolio photos and specify your lead
preferences.  You will then get an email from us asking you to click on a link
and activate your account.  There is no setup fee.

Where would a homeowner find QuoteCity?

QuoteCity advertises in Google, Yahoo, MSN, Craigslist, Direct Mail, Email
Marketing, Word of Mouth, Telemarketing, etc. Our ads are your ads!

Do you offer advertising on your site?

The Contractor Business Directory is the only "advertising" option we offer for contractors. We do not encourage contractors to purchase banner ads and other traditional internet advertising because it favors bigger companies with larger ad budgets thereby overshadowing our other contractors.

We do however have ad room for manufacturers and suppliers of contractors and
any other homeowner related services.

What are RSS feeds?

RSS feeds allow you to see when a website has added new content, without actually having to access the website itself. By using an aggregator or a feed reader, which is either a piece of software or a web-based tool, you can compile a list of your favourite websites and automatically receive their latest headlines.

What are ratings and testimonials?

Every time a home or business owner has a contractor purchase their lead, they are invited back to the site to rate and review the performance of their contractors. The rating consists of 5 questions about the job and performance of the contractor. All ratings are combined for a contractor to give them an overall contractor rating. The homeowner may also wish to leave a testimonial statement to praise the work of the contractor or warn future homeowners about the problems they had with the contractor.

How can a home/business owner rate a contractor?

A home or business owner can go to the My Contractors area of their profile and click on the contractor they wish to rate and review. From here they will be able to select if a contractor was awarded their project or not, evaluate the contractor in 5 areas of performance and then leave a testimonial review for future homeowners to read.

What happens if there is a rating/testimonial dispute?

In order for our system to work QuoteCity.com must remain an impartial 3rd party. In the event that a contractor has a dispute with a rating or testimonial left by a homeowner, QuoteCity will review the case by contacting both parties and making a judgment that is fair to them and all future homeowners.

We are also implementing a new feature which will allow our contractors to leave a comment for any testimonial which they deem deserves a response.

What kind of memberships does QuoteCity offer?

We offer 2 different memberships. One for Contractors and one for Homeowners. Both Memberships are FREE.

How much does a membership cost?

Membership for homeowners and contractors is FREE.

What happens if a contractor is too busy to take on any new business?

A contractor can make change their status to Unavailable at any time by going to the My Availability area of their profile and changing their status. They will not receive any new lead information by email and will not be contacted by our sales office until their status if returned to available. ( note to terry and ken this should also trigger in the sales department not to call this contractor. Also the text in this page should include that they will and will not continue to be called)

What is the SiteBuilder?

Site Builder is a utility designed to help our VIP contractors build a professional website quickly and easily with no prior experience in web design. QuoteCity uses information from the contractor’s profile to pre-fill most areas. Some additional information is also required such as services provided and any other information the contractor would like displayed.

How much is the SiteBuilder?

How do I purchase more credits?

Each credit that you puchase is equivalent to 1 lead. Each lead costs $29.00. You can purchase credits individually or you can purchase them in packs of 10. If you purchase 10, then the price drops to $249.00 or approx. $24.00 per credit.

To purchase more leads (credits), log into your account, and go to My Account.

You will see options for upgrading your Directory Listing or Purchasing more lead credits.

Click Buy More Leads and then select which package you would like to purchase. 1 lead or 10 leads.

How do I update or edit my profile?

In order to update the information in your profile, you must log into your account and go to the menu tabs on the left side of the page relating to the information you wish to change. When you have finished editing that information, just click the submit button to save it.

Who will see my personal information?

Only the contractors who have expressed interest in your project will have access to any of your personal profile information.

STEP 1 - Contractors, register your company and create your online profile with us.  When homeowners search the internet and find QuoteCity in any of the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN they will have the option to submit their projects online or to search our directory.

STEP 2 - We will match up the homeowner’s project criteria with your specifications and notify you and 2 other contractors in our network.

STEP 3 - If you are interested in the job, and decide to pursue the project, the homeowners will be notified of your interest and expect a call from you to set up an appointment and receive an estimate.

STEP 4 - The homeowner can then rate and review your QuoteCity profile and provide testimonials for your future customer. 

Our system works on a credit basis.  Each lead credit is worth $29.00.

How many contractors can apply for 1 job?

Up to 3 contractors can compete for the same job lead. We believe in giving the homeowner a fair selection of estimates to choose from, while at the same time giving our contractors a good chance of winning many of the jobs they are interested in.

What is "Leads on Hold"?

Since the system automatically removes a lead from the system after 3 Contractors have purchased it, the HOLD option allows interested contractors to put a "Reservation" on a Lead while they are thinking about whether they can take on the work. Three Leads can be put on hold at any given time. Each Lead is held for 6 hours. After the 6 hours, the reserved spot is again available in the general pool of leads and anyone interested in the job may take it.

A job can be purchased or taken off hold at anytime before the 24 hour period has expired, by going to the Jobs on Hold area of the contractor’s profile and choosing to "Release" hold for the appropriate job lead.

Is there are screening process for the homeowners?

We call the homeowners and verify their contact information. However, there are times when we do not get in touch and play phone tag for a while but we still DO release the lead to our contractors.  If there are any problems with any of the homeowners, we rely on our contractors to send us an email and let us know if the homeowner never called back or was not serious about the job.  We then refund the lead credits for that contractor.

If you call a contractor with a lead, and he/she decides they don't want it, do you charge them for the lead anyway?

No. We have NO membership fees or any other fees. Each time you
take a lead, you have to decide on your own whether it is something you are
interested in taking on.  You can search for leads in your area or anywhere
else in the country. Then log into your QuoteCity account and take the lead. We
will then subtract 1 credit ($29.00) from your account.

If a contractor takes a lead but the homeowner is no longer interested, do you charge them for the lead or can they get a refund?

Any time a lead has either been closed or is poorly represented by the homeowner, we credit the contractor's account replacing the lead.  We will follow up with the homeowner to validate the situation, but will almost always side with our contractors.

Can you narrow down the leads a contractor gets by the towns they work in?

We do not go by towns.  We go by zip code and mile radius. So if
you only want to receive roofing leads 20 miles from this zip 08840, you will
only be notified of those jobs regardless of what particular town they are
located in.

What if most of the work a contractor does is between 100 and 900 dollars. They cannot afford to pay for leads if they cost $29.00.

No worries! If any leads come into our system with a specified budget of UNDER $1,000, THEY ARE FREE!
